Amritsar , historically also known as Rāmdāspur, and colloquially as Ambarsar, is the spiritual and cultural centre of the Sikh Religion. Amritsar, literally meaning ‘a Pool of Nectar’ , derives its name from Amrit Sarovar, the holy tank that surrounds the fabulous Golden Temple.
